UniSVR worked together with Sinotech Enginering Consultans to meet the requirements of its administrative office - Northern Region Water Resources Office, a unit under Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. A resource-effective digital surveillance solution was provided for the goverment unit to oversee a vast array of operating conditions and environments for protecting the reservoir.

The construction of Shihmen Reservoir was completed in 1964. It has made impressive contributions to the development of agriculture and industry in the northern Taiwan. The major functions of the reservoir include irrigation, power generation, water supply and flood prevention.

UniSVR and Sinotech Engineering Consultants, Ltd. worked together in this project to meet the requirements of Northern Region Water Resource Office, the administrative office of the reservoir. Resource-effective design and central monitoring were two major requirements of the customer. After the implmentation, the administrative office could oversee the operation of the reservoir including its dams and power plant through the central monitoring support of UniArgus CMS solution. The existing CCTV cameras and newly-purchased PTZ cameras were also integrated in one system.
Following are some key features and benefits of the solution.

  • The administrators can easily monitor the vital points of the dams and the power plant through the Internet. Historic data can also be easily retrieved. The manpower cost to manage the operation around the clock is reduced.
  • Use privileges are defined to meet the comprehensive security requirements of the office.
  • When the defined event occurs, alert messages will be sent to the administrators and operators, and alarms will be triggered. Effective actions can be taken in managing critical events.
  • CMS web monitoring program is incorporated into the administrative office’s portal. The administrators can easily access to the program from the web page that they are most familiar with.

The administrative office is also planning to expand the surveillance system in the next phase of implementation. UniSVR and Sinotech Engineering Consultants will continue to serve the office’s demands as well as provide effective surveillance solutions that support a vast array of operating conditions and environments for other govement units.
