UniArgus Recommended by China Telecom to Help Combat Test Fraud in China's National College Entrance Exam
To defense against test fraud
and protect the benefits of testers in the national college entrance
examination, the examination administration of Yanguan City adopted
UniSVR's new generation digital surveillance solution to monitor and
record test sites when the national examination was taken place. The
solution was recommended by Shanxi Telecom, a subsidiary of China
Telecom. It successfully reduced the administration's efforts as well
as increased its effectiveness in attacking the test fraud problem
forcefully. Video monitoring was conducted locally in the test sites
and in the central administration center. Video records could also be
retrieved after the examination.
It comes again the test season! In this
June, the college entrance examination administration of Yanguan City,
Shanxi Providence adopted the digital surveillance technology to watch
over the national examination. Its key requirements included high
reliability as well as distributed and central monitoring and recording
capabilities.
UniArgus was introduced and implemented
by Shanxi Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom. The central
administration center was located in Yanguan's city hall and four major
test sites were setup in local high schools. There were total of 463
cameras installed in four major test sites and minimum two cameras were
installed in each classroom . The administration personnel in the city
hall also watched over the activities of testers in each classroom of
the sites through UniSVR's UniArgus central server.
Central management and distributed processing were two keys to bring to the success of the project.
- Distributed processing
Five servers were provided for local recording in four major test
sites. The numbers of IP cameras connected to the five servers were
129, 114, 60, 80 and 80 respectively. 25 fps were configured in each
camera.
- Central management
One central server was installed in Yangquan City's college entrance
examination administration center. Five sub-servers located in four
major test sites were managed through the central server. The central
server allows the administrators of the center to get to any videos of
any classroom in any test site. User privileges could also be defined
to limit the access of video to serve the management purposes.
UniArgus was also chosen as Yangquan's
digital surveillance solution in the upcoming high school entrance
examination. The solution reduces the examination administration's
efforts as well as increases its effectiveness in attacking and
preventing the test fraud problem. The solution also provides the
flexibility and scalability to add more cameras, more servers and more
test sites based on the administration's future requirements.
