UniArgus Helps Securing Special Residents of Catholics Hua Kuang Social Welfare Foundation
The Intelligence
Development Center of Catholics Hua Kuang Social Welfare Foundation has
been a shelter to mentally retarded persons in Northern Taiwan for over
20 years. UniSVR is proud to work with Industrial Technology Research
Institute to implement a cost-effective system that leverages
technologies to improve the security of its special residents who
strive to overcome obstacles and live with dignity and pride.
Catholics
Hua Kuang Social Welfare Foundation is located in KuanHsi township of
Hsinchu County. Founded by Father Yeh from Hungarian in 1983, its
intelligence development center has been a shelter to mentally retarded
persons in Northern Taiwan for over 20 years. The center accommodates
over 200 mental retarded residents and 100 service personnel today. Its
residents are encouraged to live with dignity and pride. They work in a
farm owned by the center and sell the organic products they grow to the
public. There is also a kindergarten designed to help young retarded
children.
Security
control was a significant concern to the center. After understanding
its requirements, UniSVR and Industrial Technology Research Institute
worked together and offered a cost-effective system that leveraged
technologies to improve the security of its special residences as well
as protect its assets. An UniArgus digital surveillance system was
implemented. The existing CCTV cameras were reused, and the newly
purchased true day-and-night cameras, I/O control and access control
were integrated. A security office was also setup. The service
personnel could easily monitor the center, particularly those open
areas with heavy traffic, and respond to the alerts
effectively.
- Enhancing the capabilities of effective responses
Though the special residents are free to move around in the defined
areas of the center, their safety remains a concern. The service
personnel can monitor the areas more easily and effectively today. When
a resident is unattended to leave the safe zone, the installed cameras
would detect it and send alert messages to the service personnel. The
possible route of the resident can also be easily tracked through the
video for quicker responses.
- Protecting people and assets
The access control system is implemented to send alert messages and
turn on the lights when the defined events are triggered in the
off-hours. Motion-detected recording is also configured. The coverage
of special events is enhanced to protect the residents, the service
personnel and the assets of the center.
The
network-based integrated solution helps improve the security
capabilities of the center. As the number of the special residents
continues to grow, the capabilities would be very important to the
service personnel. UniSVR is proud to work with Industrial Technology
Research Institute to provide the solution.
