Taipei Electronics Show: Betting on the Smartphone as the Hub

UniSVR started in Taiwan as an application service provider, and in recent years has been building up an ecosystem of hardware and software components to augment its HermesDDS cloud service, which enables users to view and share video and files and control network edge devices remotely.

On display at its stand were several IoT solutions, such as the UniPcc, which is being marketed as a server for the private cloud and a solution for smart homes. Paired with the UniGate IoT Controller, multi-functional platform offers a total WiFi management solution to manage remote control cameras, sensor detectors, I/O switches, and other monitoring systems and turns smart phones into mobile IP cameras. One demo showed a monitoring system for a produce growing operation, where conditions must be carefully monitored for optimal results.

In a bid to move into higher value markets Taiwanese companies are combining hardware and software into systems--like the cloud and server solution offered by UniSVR. It's designed for remote control of operations such as the greenhouse demo shown here.
