HermesDDS Structure
HermesDDS service focuses on the IoT application for consumers, but the real IoT consumer application is not just connecting computers or smart phones, remotely viewing video from camera, or installing some sensors that only tell you the binary status( a person detected/ nothing detected, door open/-close, etc.); Future application for Internet of Things should and will add more devices and more transducers, which will also provide more information including the analog signal, event or condition status, even sentence of natural language; application will also surpass individual and extending toward community application, like social sharing, caring, and group collaboration. Thus, any system or platform that truly wants to expand and adapt to the future application of IoT, must consider these factor. UniSVR’s UniPCC IoT Solution Framework is developed base on those principles.
UniPCC IoT Solution Framework consists of four sections:
- HermesDDS Cloud service: working in the background, it will automatically help users to get through the firewall, to find devices, and to complete connection. Users just need to register as a HermesDDS member and activate their registered HermesDDS devices.
- Cloud Gateway Controller: It can connect to the wired or wireless network edge devices through different protocols, and so these device can be used via the Internet remotely. When devices are located in a larger sit or remote places, you can integrate the devices through the installation of Cloud Gateway Controller across the site. This mechanism is based on our past experience in industrial application. It is a more reliable and effective way to integrate different types of devices in different regions.
- Client side: Users can enjoy a variety of functions through the respective software applications. Software developers can use our SDK to develop different application programs to meet user’s needs.
- Private Cloud computer (PCC);: It is the core device for the UniPCC IoT Solution Framework. Features include
- Automatic event-action sequence control
- I/O data collection and recording
- Live video streaming and recording
- Remote file fetching and backup
- System and device management
- System information notification
The automatic connection is achieved by the HermesDDS Software Component (HSC); that is installed or embedded in each device. With the HSC, a device can go through the firewall to communicate with the cloud service and then communicate with the other device directly. Even issues caused by the floating OP address or changing cellular network can still be effectively solved.
Another feature of the HermesDDS is the DDS (Device Directory Service); type of device management system, as shown below. Users can easily recognized what device they own or other people share with them, and the device connection status. This device management system is far superior to the general ones.
